An Evening with Graham Norton

Ok let me start off by stating that this wasn’t as glamourous affair as the title may suggest and that I did not actually meet the man himself. Rather, to add to my bucketlist of random and fun things to do in London, I went to a talk he was giving on his new book ‘The Life and Loves of a He Devil’. Now I don’t know about you but I am a huge fan of the Graham Norton Show, with its A list celebrities and the light-hearted interviews which are conducted and I’m not ashamed to admit it.

However as I am sure you know, when someone is famous its almost a bit weird seeing them in the flesh. I know that people might turn to me and say ‘they are just people’ but they are not are they? You don’t get to know the person, you only know them for the things that they have done in the public eye, such as films, concerts etc – where they all put on a persona. Having said that when Graham Norton walked onto the stage, my friend and I were both a little excited – can’t deny that.

The concept of the evening was for Graham himself to be interviewed and talk about his new biography which is out now. True to his TV persona, Graham Norton seems unable to say anything with a straight face, no matter how serious the matter is. I loved it. From embarrassing stories, to serious comments on his childhood and lovelife, he didn’t really keep any secrets to himself, but I’m not going to give anything away as you may wish to go and buy the book for yourselves.

Suffice to say that he is a stage man. And maybe one day when this blog makes me famous, and I get book deals, movie deals and all the rest of it I will be sitting opposite him on that famous couch, but until then I guess I will just have to satisfy myself with turning on the TV promptly every Friday at 22.30 to watch the show.
