Movember

Yep it’s that time of year! The time when the boys trade in their razors and forgo the “smooth” look for the “rugged” one. That’s right it’s Movember!

Ok I have to admit that out here in Kenya it’s not a big thing and very few people (if any) do it, maybe because appearance is extremely important in this country or maybe because it’s a country where the majority of residents don’t have money handy anyway, least of all money to sponsor someone else. Therefore this blog is mainly about all you boys I know the other side of the world who grit their teeth and don’t mind looking like an idiot for a few weeks!

Personally I think it’s great – it’s a great way of raising money and it’s a laugh (for the girls watching at least) and I salute you guys who do it! The weird thing is I have had a few of my mates talk to me and say that they are not letting their men do it this year because it's inconvenient! Girls – suck it up – its only for a month and its only his face – you will survive. As far as I am concerned if you can walk around growing something on your face for a month and take the inevitable jibes from people then you have a sense of humour and I probably like you as a person, but (valid reasons aside) if you refuse for the simple reason that you won’t look good or people will laugh then I have two words for you – man up!

I asked a friend why he wasn't doing it this year and he surprised me by saying that he wouldn't be allowed to do something like this at work. Appearance is important and all that and it’s about making money blah blah blah.  Ok I get that – I do but a part of me also feels like they are taking life a little too seriously! I mean come on it’s a month – raising money for a good cause – you would think that his bosses may lighten up a little bit. Although maybe my attitude is one of the reasons I am still unemployed – clearly I need to take life more seriously and care more about making money than living life. Ha who am I kidding? Something tells me I will never be like that – I am much more likely to be the one in the office who draws on a moustache in November for the hell of it.

So to all you guys who are doing it this year – keep at it. I am enjoying the incoming snapchats showing your progress and I am not laughing at you (promise)! Besides in my opinion a little facial hair on a man never hurt anyone – so good luck guys I hope you meet your goals and end up rocking your Mo's!
